Within his 5 years in the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (SLI), Anwar has enriched himself with multiple opportunities to expand his skill set and his character. As the lead programmer for his FTC Robotics team, Anwar has developed his computer science, team management and real world project development skills extensively throughout the course of competition. Working with his team, they were able to achieve countless awards and received the NorCal Inspire Award. Using his experience and expertise, he has done a wide variety of outside projects such as web based development, IoT programming and control systems and worked with various non-profits to program systems for events.
Anwar has been a part of numerous clubs at Santa Clara High School, including Political Forum and Chess Club, both of which enable him to develop strategic thinking and communication skills. He is also a two-semester athlete playing both water polo and tennis for four years and has been the captain of his school’s tennis team for the past three years. Outside of school, Anwar has done over 150 hours of community service at various food banks and events in addition to participating in various hackathons.
