Reflective, Passionate, Driven
"The present is theirs; the future, for which I really worked, is mine."
Gaurav B. is a dedicated student of both the hard and soft skills taught in the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (SLI) and, over the course of his six years in the program, has excelled in gaining them. He has participated in and led multiple robotics teams from the 7th grade onwards, gaining major experience in the programming of robots and in understanding successful team dynamics. Some of the most interesting code he produced during this time was in making a Java-based runtime interpreter for autonomous robot control; this code allowed the testing time between iterations of autonomous code on the robot to decrease from 2 minutes to 1 second.
He also has a deep affinity to the idea of developing healthcare systems that utilize big data for accurate diagnostics, and he has led teams in pursuit of this technology, by creating from scratch an electrocardiogram machine and multiple servers that filter and process this data. During his last few years in the program, he has focued on disseminating the array of knowledge that he has accumulated during his time in the program; he has hosted training sessions for SLI robotics teams as well as helping his friends with understanding technical concepts. In his free time, you can find him journaling or writing music.
