Compassionate, Creative, Reliable

"Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved

- Helen Keller

Now in her senior year, Haritha K joined the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (SLI) in 10th grade. Outside of SLI, she participates in various programs and clubs at school, including CSF (California Scholarship Federation), GAINS (Girls Achieving in Non-Traditional Subjects), and she gives back to the school through her club, Project: Earth. Haritha has been president of Project: Earth for three years. Since its creation three years ago, the club has fundraised and purchased recycling bins for the school, which previously had no means of recycling. Additionally, she has been a part of the Santa Clara High School Badminton Team since 10th grade.

Another organization that she contributes to is SVACA (Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority), where she socializes with animals and participates in outreach events. Haritha also worked to establish a library for a public school in India, an experience which has inspired her to continue giving back to the community. Haritha expresses her creative side through painting, and conducts a workshop at the Alviso Branch Library called Painting Through Time. In the future, Haritha would like to volunteer more and discover other ways to give back.

Honor Roll

Peterson, Santa Clara High School

A student on honor roll is commended for outstanding academic achievement.

The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (49ers SLI) provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school. Students, who are with the program for six years from 7th through 12th grade, commit annually to 300+ hours of program learning time in addition to their typical school hours. By cultivating student mastery in STEM subjects and in key skill areas, the program prepares students for college and empowers them to pursue their passions; so that they may become the well-rounded leaders of the future. The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute is made possible by the strong partnership between Silicon Valley Education Foundation, 49ers Foundation, Chevron, and the Santa Clara Unified School District.
