Over the course of her six years in the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (SLI), Jessica has dedicated her time and passion to projects such as FIRST robotics, Tech Challenge, Maker Faire, and many more. Since her freshman year of high school, she has heavily participated in the FIRST Tech Challenge, a robotics competition; over the years, her teams have won awards such as the Motivate Award, Judges Award, and Connect Award. Outside of SLI, Jessica serves as a technology representative for the high school's leadership class by helping to run school-wide rallies and planning events such as Homecoming and Battle of the Classes. In addition to serving as technology representative, Jessica also enjoys fulfilling her role as a global citizen by volunteering in countries such as China and Nepal to give back to the less fortunate. In her free time, Jessica enjoys playing piano, participating in volleyball, and spending time with her family.
FIRST Tech Challenge, 2016-2019
FIRST Tech Challenge is a robotics competition that gives teams of middle and high school students a challenge to design, program, and build a robot to compete in a floor game against other teams.

Motivate Award: Given for representing the essence of the FIRST Tech Challenge competition through team building, team spirit, and displayed enthusiasm.
Connect Award: Given to the team that most connects with local science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) community.
Judges Award: A unique and uncommon award that is given by the judging panel under the concept of honoring the team's outstanding efforts, but does not factor into the Advancement Criteria.
