Having participated in the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute since 7th grade, John is very passionate about science. He has taken AP and Honors Classes in Biology and Chemistry, in addition to taking a course on the biochemistry behind medicine at Columbia University, and as an intern at a local Orthodontist Office, he assists the Orthodontists and Nurses in producing 3D models for patients Invisalign and retainers. 

In terms of academics, John has taken a total of 10 AP Classes with 5 of them in his Senior year of high school. He has received 2 perfect scores on his SAT Subject Tests for Math 2 and Biology Ecological, while also diligently working to obtain 1520 on his SAT; a 470 point improvement from the very first time he took the exam in 8th Grade. In the future, John plans to major in Biochemistry and aspires to become a Psychiatrist. 


Aside from his academic achievements, John has been very involved in his community by volunteering at Second Harvest, where he assisted in distributing food to those in poverty and helped organize produce in the organization's warehouse. He also works as an assistant ESL teacher at a local church, where he helps new US citizens learn the basics of English.

In his free time, he enjoyed participating in a wide variety of sports, including competitive swimming and his high school's badminton team.

The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (49ers SLI) provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school. Students, who are with the program for six years from 7th through 12th grade, commit annually to 300+ hours of program learning time in addition to their typical school hours. By cultivating student mastery in STEM subjects and in key skill areas, the program prepares students for college and empowers them to pursue their passions; so that they may become the well-rounded leaders of the future. The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute is made possible by the strong partnership between Silicon Valley Education Foundation, 49ers Foundation, Chevron, and the Santa Clara Unified School District.
