Kristine M.

Ambitious, Dedicated, Passionate

The foundation of every state is the education of its youth

- Diogenes

Kristine moved from the Philippines when she was 6 years old. In order to fulfill her dreams of pursuing a career in a STEM field, she joined the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (SLI) in 7th grade and was able to pursue many passions through the opportunities offered at the program. She has participated in projects such as FIRST Robotics, Maker Faire, and the Synopsys Science Faire, which have allowed her to realize her full potential within STEM and develop the skills required to work in the real world.

Through her 5 years of experience in FIRST Robotic challenges, Kristine has been able to cultivate one of her passions, which is helping others to pursue the same dream she had as a young child. Due to this, she is also the chapter meeting director at Youth Leaders in Medicine, an organization that provides opportunities for underprivileged students aspiring to work in the medical field.

The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (49ers SLI) provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school. Students, who are with the program for six years from 7th through 12th grade, commit annually to 300+ hours of program learning time in addition to their typical school hours. By cultivating student mastery in STEM subjects and in key skill areas, the program prepares students for college and empowers them to pursue their passions; so that they may become the well-rounded leaders of the future. The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute is made possible by the strong partnership between Silicon Valley Education Foundation, 49ers Foundation, Chevron, and the Santa Clara Unified School District.
