BIOGRAPHY

A native of Silicon Valley, Liana is motivated to pursue a career in Biological sciences and engineering. During her time in the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute, she has honed her ability to work well within a team. She works hard, enjoys supporting others, likes to share her successes, utilizes a team's talents and strengths, all while having fun. Liana has been an active member in several clubs on campus such as Girls Achieving in Non-Traditional Subjects (GAINS), Interact, and UNICEF.

She has played basketball for three years and has competed on the Varsity Swim Team since freshman year. Having a deep love for playing the saxophone since middle school, Liana has continued studying the instrument through all four years of high school, including participation in Silent Command with Vanguard and taking up a role as the Woodwind captain her senior year. While she takes on the rigor of an advanced course-load and several extracurriculars, she still prioritizes finding a work-life balance and time to spend with friends and family.

AWARDS & PROJECTS

The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (49ers SLI) provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school. Students, who are with the program for six years from 7th through 12th grade, commit annually to 300+ hours of program learning time in addition to their typical school hours. By cultivating student mastery in STEM subjects and in key skill areas, the program prepares students for college and empowers them to pursue their passions; so that they may become the well-rounded leaders of the future. The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute is made possible by the strong partnership between Silicon Valley Education Foundation, 49ers Foundation, Chevron, and the Santa Clara Unified School District.
