BIOGRAPHY

Ryan Co_Bio Photo.jpg
During his six years in the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute, Ryan has pursued his passion for engineering and community service.

Ryan is the team leader of a FIRST robotics team that won first place in Northern California and advanced to the World Championship. He has applied his hands-on experience to two startup internships, where he designed 3D printed robot mechanisms and programmed multi-sensor testing systems while learning about business operations.

To give back to the community, Ryan volunteers as a team leader at the Second Harvest Food Bank, where he sorts and distributes produce boxes to families in need. He also dedicates his time to mentoring the younger cohorts as a teaching assistant, hoping to make their SLI journey as valuable and life-changing as his has been.

In his free time, Ryan enjoys reading nonfiction books to learn from diverse perspectives around the world.
The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (49ers SLI) provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school. Students, who are with the program for six years from 7th through 12th grade, commit annually to 300+ hours of program learning time in addition to their typical school hours. By cultivating student mastery in STEM subjects and in key skill areas, the program prepares students for college and empowers them to pursue their passions; so that they may become the well-rounded leaders of the future. The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute is made possible by the strong partnership between Silicon Valley Education Foundation, 49ers Foundation, Chevron, and the Santa Clara Unified School District.
