Saurav Gandhi is a compassionate and motivated high school student at the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute at Santa Clara High School.
Driven by his love for STEM and writing, Saurav started STEMATIX, a 100% student-run STEM magazine with just 11 of his friends. Over the course of four years, he transformed this small magazine into an international student-run organization engaging youth in STEM through journalism. STEMATIX currently has hundreds of contributors and partners from 40 countries across the globe.
Saurav also participates actively in his community. A fervent animal lover, he organized a pet parade for his Eagle Project, bringing together over 500 people to honor a fallen K9 officer and raise 6000 dollars for his memorial. He is also active in SLI’s Student Leadership Committee, where he teaches younger cohorts robotics, coding, team building, and other hands-on STEM skills.
Saurav pursues his passion for engineering by leading a local FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team, which won first place in Northern California and qualified for the World Championship. Furthermore, he’s won 1st Place at Synopsys Science Fair four times and qualified for the State Science Fair three times for his mechatronics projects. At school, Saurav is the co-president of Hack Club, SCHS’s largest coding club, and serves as the President of the Artificial Intelligence Society, where he fosters AI exploration amongst his peers. By studying Electrical and Computer Engineering, Saurav aspires to apply his passion for technology to social innovations.
