Vamsi A.

Hardworking, Creative, Dedicated

When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor.

- Elon Musk

Vamsi has a passion for learning and likes to challenge himself as demonstrated by a heavy AP course load his Junior year and several courses taken at various different colleges. As an aspiring surgeon, he has spent over 500 hours in hospitals volunteering, observing surgeries in the OR, and shadowing doctors in the ER and Oncology department. He is also a certified EMR and has a pharmacy technician license.

Vamsi also enjoys technology. His interests vary from coding and robotics to aerospace and biotechnology. He was able to further act on this interest through 49ers SLI with FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics and Maker Faire. Vamsi's freshman FTC team competed in regionals and he later joined the talented and successful Astrobruins team his Sophomore year. In addition to FTC, Vamsi takes part in many activities at school. He is the president and founder of the Chess Club which has over 110 members. He is also a member of the water polo team and captain of the varsity tennis team.

The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (49ers SLI) provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school. Students, who are with the program for six years from 7th through 12th grade, commit annually to 300+ hours of program learning time in addition to their typical school hours. By cultivating student mastery in STEM subjects and in key skill areas, the program prepares students for college and empowers them to pursue their passions; so that they may become the well-rounded leaders of the future. The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute is made possible by the strong partnership between Silicon Valley Education Foundation, 49ers Foundation, Chevron, and the Santa Clara Unified School District.
