BIOGRAPHY

Aasees_Sandhu_Secondary - Aasees Sandhu.png
Aasees has been a part of the SLI Program since the 7th grade, building lifelong friendships and learning valuable lessons throughout her journey. She has participated in various extracurriculars throughout her tenure as an SLI student but some of the most notable one is the SMART Socket, an adjustable and affordable prosthetic leg socket, which took her team to CSEF. She is excited to continue her academic journey in university as a public health major with hopes to go to medical school.

Outside of the classroom Aasees spends time working as a lifeguard and swim instructor for the city of Santa Clara. She spent three years on the varsity water polo team and served as co-captain during her senior season. She was also on the varsity swim team for two years. Aasees served in the leadership class as the senior class treasurer as well. She is an active leader on campus, being involved in link crew and serving as co-president of Pre-Med Club, vice-president of Santa Clara Pediatrics, and vice president of Sikh Student Union. Aasees has enjoyed her time at SCHS but is excited for what the future has in store for her.
The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (49ers SLI) provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school. Students, who are with the program for six years from 7th through 12th grade, commit annually to 300+ hours of program learning time in addition to their typical school hours. By cultivating student mastery in STEM subjects and in key skill areas, the program prepares students for college and empowers them to pursue their passions; so that they may become the well-rounded leaders of the future. The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute is made possible by the strong partnership between Silicon Valley Education Foundation, 49ers Foundation, Chevron, and the Santa Clara Unified School District.
