BIOGRAPHY
Diya is dedicated to fostering participation in computing among various communities, including girls, low-income individuals, and students with special education needs. Serving as the president of her school's Girls Who Code club, her main goal is to dismantle the sexist mindset that "girls are incapable of coding." Her inspiration stems from her own encounters with bias, driving her ambition to create an inclusive community of like-minded, motivated girls.
Diya has a strong interest in computer science and engineering, participating in competitions like Maker Faire, FIRST Tech Challenge, and Synopsys Science Fair. Outside of academics, she has dedicated over 10 years to Indian classical dance, deepening her bond with her culture. Committed to her community, Diya serves as an ambassador for VoteRiders, a nonprofit aiding US voters. She co-founded both the Service Learning and Mentorship Program and the STEM Circle of Friends program, teaching underserved students STEM basics. At school, she is the president and founder of We The People, the largest non-partisan politics and civic engagement club at SCHS. She also serves as the Secretary of Project: Earth and the Senior Representative of Bears To Share. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, hiking, and traveling.
