49ers STEM Leadership Institute (SLI) has opened many doors for Halle to grow both academically and as a person. Throughout her six years in the program, she has had the pleasure of working with multiple teams to solve challenges for competitions such as Tech Challenge and FLL as well as to conduct research and develop innovative solutions in Maker Faire, ExploraVision, and Project Invent.
Outside of SLI, Halle has been a Girl Scout for nine years and undertook various projects such as developing a website to educate people about improving their carbon footprint by eating locally produced foods and creating workshops for homeless children to teach them about the food pyramid. Her experience as an intern at a startup working on an app to teach children about healthy eating and STEM subjects as well as her job at Cerulean Dental Spa helped her to gain job experience and develop important skills such as responsibility and independence.
In school, she swam for SCHS’s varsity swim team, played flute in the marching band, and co-founded the Bears to Share club. Outside of her busy schedule, she enjoys drawing, watching Studio Ghibli films, and biking with friends.
