Matthew has been a part of the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (SLI) since 7th grade and has grown to be a passionate and empathetic person. Throughout his six years of involvement in the program, he has developed leadership skills that he has implemented when working with others in projects such as Project Invent, Project Pay It Forward, and the Service Learning and Mentoring (SLAM) program.
As a student, he is interested in the field of science and has taken rigorous AP and Honors courses throughout high school to advance his learning and ambitions to pursue a medical career.

Outside of school, Matthew has been actively giving back to his community through his 11 years of involvement in his local Boys & Girls Club and being the Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year of Northern Silicon Valley for two consecutive years in 2023 and 2024. He also spends his free time doing volunteer work at organizations including Mission Hospice & Home Care, Kaiser Permanente, and Opening Doors 2020.

Matthew is excited to study Human Biology at Cornell University and to use his SLI foundation to propel his personal and academic development in the near future.
