Nikhil is a dedicated and spirited student in his sixth year at the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute. Throughout his experiences in SLI, such as First Lego League, Exploravision, and Science Fairs, Project Invent has been the most notable in shaping his love for microbiology and mental health. Within Project Invent, Nikhil served as the team’s Co-Leader, driving his team, Team CARE, to a $500 grant from Sequoia Industries.

Outside of SLI, Nikhil is an extremely active member of his school community. He’s been an active member of the school’s orchestra for four years, even leading a section of his own for the past two years. Additionally, he is involved in over seven clubs as an officer, being the Co-President of UNICEF, Tri-M Music Leadership, and Indian Student Association.

Outside of school, Nikhil shows a great passion for helping his community, being a part of Kaiser Permanente’s volunteer program, and being involved as a student representative in SCHS’s School Site Council and Facilities Master Plan Committee. In his free time, you can see Nikhil dancing, listening to music, or playing violin. In the future, Nikhil hopes to study Microbiology with an emphasis on Pharmaceutics in college.
The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (49ers SLI) provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school. Students, who are with the program for six years from 7th through 12th grade, commit annually to 300+ hours of program learning time in addition to their typical school hours. By cultivating student mastery in STEM subjects and in key skill areas, the program prepares students for college and empowers them to pursue their passions; so that they may become the well-rounded leaders of the future. The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute is made possible by the strong partnership between Silicon Valley Education Foundation, 49ers Foundation, Chevron, and the Santa Clara Unified School District.
