Preesha has spent the past six years in the 49ers STEM Leadership Institute, where she has nurtured her passion for science, technology, and innovation. Throughout her time in the program, she has participated in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), the eCyberMission Science Fair, and the Pay It Forward initiative, all of which have deepened her interest in STEM and problem-solving. Preesha plans to study pharmacological chemistry or lab-based microbiology at UC San Diego, with aspirations of contributing to medical research.

Outside of her academic endeavors, Preesha is a dedicated athlete, having played on her high school varsity volleyball team. She has learned invaluable leadership and teamwork skills, which she also applies in her volunteer work at Kaiser Permanente Hospital. Her time at the hospital has further fueled her interest in healthcare and patient care.

Preesha’s commitment to giving back extends beyond her volunteer work, as she’s been an active participant in the community, working to create positive change around her. With a passion for both science and service, Preesha looks forward to using her skills and experiences to make an impact in the world of healthcare and beyond.

The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (49ers SLI) provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school. Students, who are with the program for six years from 7th through 12th grade, commit annually to 300+ hours of program learning time in addition to their typical school hours. By cultivating student mastery in STEM subjects and in key skill areas, the program prepares students for college and empowers them to pursue their passions; so that they may become the well-rounded leaders of the future. The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute is made possible by the strong partnership between Silicon Valley Education Foundation, 49ers Foundation, Chevron, and the Santa Clara Unified School District.
