BIOGRAPHY

Sarah_Honer_Secondary - Sarah Honer.jpg
As a part of the wonderful SLI community for the past 6 years, Sarah has had the incredible opportunity to develop her passion in STEM alongside her peers. From the Tech Interactive's Tech Challenge to FTC robotics to Synopsys Science Fair, Sarah has developed skills ranging from 3D printing to soldering, as well as a love for working collaboratively.

Over her senior year summer, Sarah was able to see her skills, cultivated by SLI, come into play during her internship at Scalvy Inc, a local engineering startup. Sarah's experience prototyping electric powertrains and shadowing lead hardware engineers solidified her decision to continue exploring engineering by pursuing a mechanical engineering degree in college.

As the president of SLI's Student Leadership Committee at the high school level and a founding member of SLAM (Service Learning and Mentoring), the STEM program SLI students created for underserved elementary students, Sarah is passionate about giving back to her community.

Outside of STEM, Sarah is a violinist and soccer player. She also enjoys spending time with her friends, drawing and painting, and reading.

Finally and above all, Sarah would like to thank SLI for being the guiding light in her journey toward a STEM career!
The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (49ers SLI) provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school. Students, who are with the program for six years from 7th through 12th grade, commit annually to 300+ hours of program learning time in addition to their typical school hours. By cultivating student mastery in STEM subjects and in key skill areas, the program prepares students for college and empowers them to pursue their passions; so that they may become the well-rounded leaders of the future. The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute is made possible by the strong partnership between Silicon Valley Education Foundation, 49ers Foundation, Chevron, and the Santa Clara Unified School District.
