Yul has focused his high school career mostly on computational mathematics, participating in national math competitions such as AMC 10/12, AIME (American Invitational Mathematics Examination), and the MathCON finalist contest. His exceptional performance and dedication led him to become one of the first three students at Santa Clara High School to qualify for the AIME, marking a significant milestone in the school's math competition history. Driven by his passion for math and a desire to foster a thriving math community, Yul spearheaded several initiatives to promote competitive math in the Santa Clara community. He organized tutoring groups, workshops, and school clubs to prepare students for various math competitions, sharing his expertise and strategies to help others succeed. In the future, he hopes to study Electrical Engineering and Quantitative Finance, applying his analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ultimate goal of applying his knowledge to innovate and improve technology.
The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (49ers SLI) provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school. Students, who are with the program for six years from 7th through 12th grade, commit annually to 300+ hours of program learning time in addition to their typical school hours. By cultivating student mastery in STEM subjects and in key skill areas, the program prepares students for college and empowers them to pursue their passions; so that they may become the well-rounded leaders of the future. The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute is made possible by the strong partnership between Silicon Valley Education Foundation, 49ers Foundation, Chevron, and the Santa Clara Unified School District.
